LOVEY'S GARDEN
Chairperson: Jane Madis
Our first garden designed and created in 1992 as a tribute to
the late Lovey Montemurro, is an established perennial garden located at the Doc
Fry Community Center. This year a special committee is looking to revamp the
garden and return it to its former majesty.
*
THE FLAGPOLE GARDEN
Chairperson: Eileen Marcos
This garden was established in 1993, following the completion
of Warwick's new Town Hall. The committee plants and maintains this circular bed
located in front of the building. Each year it is replanted with annuals to
create a new design and color scheme.
*
VILLAGE HALL GARDEN
Chairperson: Marcela Gross
A combination of perennials and
annuals are employed in the design of this miniature garden alongside the
Village Hall.
The committee for this garden
handles its implementation and maintenance.

DR.
BEERS GARDEN AT MEMORIAL PARK
Chairperson: Darlene Brozowski
In 1995 the Warwick Valley
Gardeners were invited to design and plant a garden at the monument to Dr.
Beers at the entrance to Memorial Park. Perennials provide the backbone for this
garden and annuals bring plenty of color to the area.
*
MEMORIAL PARK - WORLD TRADE CENTER GARDEN
Chairperson: Lori Testa
In 2002 a monument was built to remember Town residents lost
in the World Trade Center disaster. The WVG assumed the planting and
maintenance of the garden surrounding the monument and it now flowers for three
seasons.
*
"WELCOME TO WARWICK" GARDEN - FORESTER AVE
Chairperson: Gertrude Galligan
In 1996 the Village of Warwick installed a beautiful sign near
Forester Avenue to welcome visitors. The WVG were asked to create a planting to
complement the sign. Now, years later it is planted for four seasons.

"WELCOME TO WARWICK" GARDEN - ROUTES 17A/94
Chairperson: Loretta Ridella
In 1997 the Village of Warwick installed a charming sign along
Routes 17A/94 at the north end of the village to welcome visitors.
The WVG now plant this lovely spot for three seasons.
*
RAILROAD GREEN
Chairman: Cathy Garofalo and Shelly Sherfey
Our largest and most ambitious project to date, this garden is
located in the center of the Village and is planted and decorated for four
seasons. Masses of annuals, perennials, and ornamental grasses border the park,
in addition to raised planters, which change with the seasons.
Other Projects
Academic Scholarship
This new committee has been established to forge a relationship with Warwick Valley High School to create an annual scholarship in the field of horticulture.
*
Arbor Day
Chairman: Pat Conroy Reinhardt
Arbor Day is a nationally - celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Over the years the WVG has planted many trees in celebration of this event. The last Friday of the month of April has been designated Arbor Day in New York State, and as always, the club will participate with a planting ceremony and observance.
*
Garden Therapy
Chairperson: Mary Pohlman
Garden Therapy is the use of live plants to heal and rehabilitate people. The WVG has a very active program at our local nursing facility, Mt. Alverno. Our club meets every few months to conduct workshops, such as simple planting and flower arranging projects.
*
Library Book Donations
Chairperson: MaryAnn Buckley
As part of WVG's mission to develop an interest in gardening and horticulture, the club continues to donate books to the Warwick Valley library system. Often, these donations include books for children, to instill an interest in gardening at an early age.
*
Youth Gardens
Chairman: Pat Conroy Reinhardt
The WVG contribute to the Junior Master Gardener program, which is under the direction of Pat Conroy Reinhardt at Kings Elementary School.
Special Projects
Railroad Green Beautification
Chairperson: Cathy Garofalo
This project grows every year. We now plant this garden for four seasons, adding new
perennials every year. Plans are in the works to add new plantings to this garden in the heart of the village.
*
Railroad Green Holiday Decoration
Trees are lit with balls of light, as well as the perimeter of the park. Last year we decorated the seating area with green swags and garlands; this year we added swags to the lampposts and a live tree to the center of the stone planters. All of this was done in time for Warwick's Home for the Holidays Celebration the week before Thanksgiving.
*
Warwick in Bloom Chairpersons: Micki Londsky and Inga Spence
The town of Warwick participated in "America in Bloom", a national program
committed to fostering civic pride,
environmental responsibility, and beautification through community participation and won first prize in its population category. The Warwick Valley Gardeners continue to work with this organization to beautify the village of Warwick by participating in various fundraisers and floral projects. All members serve on this
committee.
